Let me introduce myself. I’m Veronica – the head megastar – but you can call me Ronnie.
I’m essentially responsible for the success of The Curvettes. It started one day in Atlantic City when I was on my “Runaway with Ronnie” tour. During my tour I attended the funeral of a dear friend at Ester and Archie’s ‘One Way Ticket’ Funeral Parlour where I discovered Ester and Archie’s daughter Betty, singing at the service. She looked timid, demure & somewhat plain – highly appropriate as a back-up singer.
After a financial exchange with Betty’s parents (they paid me!) Betty was on her way to MY fame and fortune.
Next stop was Boston, where my manager was caught up in an exchange of favours in an infamous bordello. You know how it is – one favour leads to another and ‘Bob’s your uncle’. Actually her name was Kitty and her voice was too good for my liking but I owed Maxi one! And so was born The Curvettes!
Not wanting to forfeit the success we were already enjoying, we opted for a radical experiment which put us into a time capsule due to land at the destination of our choice in October 1991. The experiment was controlled by NASA and therefore, we are obliged not to say any more about that.
Oh, but I haven’t mentioned the fellas. Not much to say really. Don’t get me wrong, all extremely talented in their own field, although a tad too rebellious at times. They leave quite the trail of broken hearts in their wake (not to mention hair grease).
Soon after our auspicious and successful resurgence, Kitty was up to her old tricks (I knew she wouldn’t last). She found herself, shall we say, in a spot of bother. Luckily the night that Kitty went unceremoniously into labour, Mama Cass’s little known ‘love-child’ Georgie, was in the audience as a guest at my birthday party (Elvis was there as well – we’re very close you know). Although Georgie had only ever sung to the animals on her farm – where she lived with Uncle Joe – she was able to cope quite well with the transition from animals to humans; well, there are some uncanny similarities.
It was apparent from the response of the audience that Georgie’s voice and appearance were well-received; she’d obviously inherited her mother’s vocal talent, but I knew we’d have to work on her stage technique and I.Q.
As you already know, The Curvettes musical history is well documented. We’ve had countless number one hits all around the world over many years. Our collection of classics is amazing and for anyone who has a memory, and loves music, our illustrious reputation will certainly precede us.
